Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnant women experience a large number of conventional symptoms such as nausea, morning sickness and swollen breasts among others. These symptoms usually show up few weeks or months into the pregnancy period. Different women experience these symptoms in different degrees. However some women may not experience these conventional symptoms and may instead experience unusual pregnancy symptoms.

Many pregnant women in the initial period of pregnancy may experience extreme emotions or extreme mood swings. Such women may find themselves weeping all the time even though there is no real reason for these dramatic mood displays.

Some extremely unusual pregnancy symptoms include appearance of veins on areas like the chest or under the arms and also along side of the breasts. These are also called spider veins. These often look like dark railway tracks and many women fret over these unusual pregnancy symptoms. Spider veins occur because of increase in blood flow in the body. This increased blood flow is carried to different parts of the body and appears as spider veins.

Nasal congestion is also observed in many pregnant women and is one of the unusual pregnancy symptoms. Many women tend to experience clogging of the nose in the early period of pregnancy. These symptoms on occasion may be misinterpreted to be flu like symptoms. Some women also experience frequent nose bleeds even if the weather is perfect. This could be one of the unusual pregnancy symptoms.

Many women also experience a metallic taste in the mouth during pregnancy. In fact this metal taste is considered to be one of the early symptoms of pregnancy. Metallic taste is often because of changes in the hormones. Many pregnant women experience excessive salivation in the mouth and this can be one of the unusual pregnancy symptoms. Such excessive saliva production can lead to further symptoms of nausea. This can make it difficult for the pregnant women to handle the pregnancy period comfortably. Excessive saliva production during sleeping is also one of the pregnancy symptoms.

Some other unusual pregnancy symptoms include cramping in the legs. Many women wake up during the night because of pain in the legs and this can be one of the early symptoms of pregnancy even though it is not very common. Facial hair and facial pigmentation are also some of the unusual pregnancy symptoms. Some women also experience unusual cramping in the stomach and this may lead women to think that they have an ulcer or some other condition.

Some women develop cravings for some strange food items. Some women also develop a liking for food items that they previously didn’t like. This could be one of the unusual pregnancy symptoms. Many women are not aware that mild anemia can be one of the symptoms of pregnancy with as many as 20% pregnant women developing anemia.
